Scope of Work
DSP Electrical Contractors installed new SCE conduit, structures and main switchboard for new power requirements. This includes all new distribution boards, panels, luminaires, site lighting, interior power, and roof top unit power. DSP provided all required contract items per the plan and specifications of the project.
Detailed Scope of Work
- Provided all new 480/ 277v 1600 amp metered exterior main distribution board, 480/ 277v 1200a interior distribution board, 208/ 120v 800a exterior EV distribution board, and a 30kW diesel emergency standby generator with automatic and manual transfer switches.
- Provided, roughed in, and wired all interior and exterior lighting.
- Provided conduit and boxes only for a complete fire alarm system; including HVAC unit shutdowns, initiation devices, notification appliances, duct detectors, elevator recalls, shunt trip monitoring and fire water monitoring.
- Installed underground boxes, conduit, wire and installed 11 double head and 2 single head EV charging stations.
- Provided conduit and boxes for all low voltage and data future wiring.
- Installed temp power from the onsite temporary power pole and set up spider boxes and temporary string lighting throughout the project interior.
Project Highlights
- 560 luminaires installed, ranging from t-bar lights, can lights, decorative interior lights, cove lights, undercabinet lights, pendant lights, wall packs, linear building up lights, exterior recessed linear lights, pathway bollards, 15’ bollards, and site lighting poles with single and double
- Main switchgear is 1600 amp, 3mph, 4w, 480/277v
- System has 480/277v and 208/120v, via step down transformers throughout the project.
- The system is equipped with a 30kW generator feeding a 60a/ 480/277v 3ph/ 4w panel, 45kVA stepdown transformer and a 90a/ 208/120v 3ph/ 4w panel. The generator in equipped with an automatic transfer switch and a secondary manual transfer switch.
- There is (1) kVA stepdown transformer for the 800a EV switchgear, (2) 112.5 step down transformers feeding 208/120v panels, and a 45kVA transformer feeding emergency 208/120v panel loads.
Challenges & Solutions
- With only one site entrance, scheduling for large deliveries needed to be precise as to not to disturb site access and work.
- This project had many scheduling challenges due to the number of unforeseen conditions, integrity of existing roof subfloor, 2nd floor subfloor, water intrusions at existing windows, owner issued bulletins and changes.
- With the many changes and bulletins throughout the project, coordination with all trades has been key, especially HVAC duct shaft locations and sizes. Coordination with the HVAC contractor eliminated conflicts of new rough in to accommodate the changing plans.
