Accessibility Statement

Our Commitment

DSP Electrical Contractors, Inc. (“DSP”) is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We are actively working to increase the accessibility and usability of our website, www.dspelectric.com, and we believe that all of our visitors — including those with disabilities — deserve a full and equal experience when accessing our online content and services.

Standards We Are Working Toward

We are working toward conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, language, learning, and neurological disabilities.

We also strive to comply with the requirements of:

  • Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Title III
  • California Unruh Civil Rights Act (California Civil Code § 51)
  • Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act (where applicable)

Current Status

Our website was recently redesigned, and we recognize that not all areas of the site may yet be fully accessible. We are treating accessibility as an ongoing effort rather than a one-time task, and we are committed to making continuous improvements.

What we have done so far:

  • Structured HTML with semantic headings, landmarks, and page hierarchy
  • Descriptive alt text for informational images
  • Sufficient color contrast between text and background elements
  • Keyboard-navigable interactive elements including navigation, buttons, and links
  • Clearly labeled form fields on our contact and estimate request pages
  • Readable font sizes with scalable text that responds to browser zoom settings
  • Descriptive link text that communicates the purpose of each link
  • Consistent navigation structure across all pages

What we are still working on:

  • Comprehensive screen reader testing across all pages and interactive components
  • Full WCAG 2.1 Level AA audit by a third-party accessibility specialist
  • Remediation of any issues identified during that audit
  • Captioned and/or transcribed video content where applicable
  • Enhanced keyboard focus indicators throughout the site
  • ARIA labels and roles for complex interactive elements
  • PDF accessibility for any downloadable documents
  • Skip navigation links for keyboard users
  • Ongoing automated and manual accessibility monitoring

Accessibility Features

The following features have been implemented on this website to improve accessibility:

Structure and Navigation

  • Pages are organized using proper HTML heading levels (H1 through H6) in logical order
  • Navigation menus are consistent across all pages
  • Breadcrumb navigation is provided on interior pages to help users understand their location within the site

Images and Visual Content

  • Informational images include descriptive alt text
  • Decorative images are marked appropriately so screen readers can skip them
  • The site does not rely solely on color to convey information

Forms

  • All form fields include associated labels
  • Required fields are clearly indicated
  • Form validation provides clear error messaging

Text and Readability

  • Text can be resized up to 200% without loss of content or functionality
  • Line spacing and paragraph spacing support readability
  • The website uses a clean sans-serif typeface (Plus Jakarta Sans) for legibility

Motion and Animation

  • Scroll-triggered animations are subtle and non-essential to understanding the content
  • No content relies solely on animation to convey information

Known Limitations

Despite our efforts, some content on the website may not yet be fully accessible. Known limitations include:

  • Embedded Google Maps: The map embed on our Contact page is provided by a third party (Google) and may not be fully accessible to all assistive technologies. The full address is provided in text form as an alternative.
  • Video content: The background video on our homepage is decorative and does not contain spoken content requiring captions. If we add informational video content in the future, we will provide captions and/or transcripts.
  • Third-party content: Some links lead to third-party websites that are not under our control. We cannot guarantee the accessibility of external websites.
  • PDF documents: If we make documents available for download, they may not yet meet full PDF/UA accessibility standards. We are working to ensure all future documents are accessible. In the meantime, please contact us for an accessible alternative format.
  • Older content: Some content created before our redesign may not yet meet current accessibility standards. We are reviewing and updating this content on an ongoing basis.
