Scope of Work

Electrical infrastructure for a 1.8-acre public memorial park.

DSP Electrical Contractors provided the full electrical scope for the City of Rancho Cucamonga’s 9/11 Memorial Park — a public park honoring the September 11, 2001 attacks, featuring authenticated artifacts from the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and Flight 93. The work included underground power distribution, a new service transformer, architectural lighting for the memorial elements and pathways, and conduit infrastructure for the park’s surveillance system.

Detailed Scope

Installed underground power distribution throughout the 1.8-acre site, including trenching, conduit, pull boxes, and conductors serving the lighting and control equipment.

Set and connected a 75kVA pad-mounted transformer providing the service point for the park’s electrical system.

Provided and installed a 100A meter pedestal for utility metering of the park’s electrical load.

Supplied and installed 70 luminaires covering architectural uplighting at the memorial features, pathway bollards, and site area lighting.

Installed an astronomical time clock and associated contactors and photocell to automate the lighting system on a dusk-to-dawn and scheduled basis without manual intervention.

Furnished and installed conduit from the park to the existing fire station MDF to support the low-voltage camera surveillance system serving the memorial site.

Coordination

Public site work with an active neighbor.

The park is located adjacent to an existing fire station, which required coordination around access and operations throughout the construction schedule. Conduit routing to the fire station MDF for the camera system demanded advance scheduling with the station to avoid disrupting their facility.

Underground distribution on a landscaped public site requires close coordination with the GC to sequence trenching before hardscape and landscape installation is finalized. The lighting control system — astronomical time clock, contactors, and photocell — was commissioned and verified before the park was handed over to the city.
